Anal Pain & Itching
Beverly Hills Gastroenterologist
Anal itching happens when the skin around the opening of the anus becomes irritated. Anal itching can be caused by quite a few factors.
Common causes of anal pain and itching include:
- fungal infections
- hemorrhoids
- fissures
- skin conditions
- allergic reactions
There can sometimes be certain chemicals that are present in the stool that can also irritate the anus.
RECTAL PAIN
Rectal pain can be a symptom of various GI conditions, including anal fissures, constipation, diarrhea, anal or rectal cancer or hemorrhoids. It is important to see a doctor, though, if the rectal pain occurs with other symptoms such as rectal bleeding and abdominal pain. Everyone with rectal pain should be seen by a doctor.
